1. Who we are

EEPSS LLC, a California limited liability company ("EEPSS," "we," "us," or "our"), operates the website eepss.net (the "Site") and develops the eeSimu power system analysis software (the "Software").

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through the Site and the Software, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have. Our Terms of Service also apply to your use of the Site and the Software.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you give us

Account: your name, email address and password. If you sign in with Google, Google gives us your name, email address and Google account identifier. We never receive your Google password.
Purchases: the license owner's name, email address and company, the billing address, and the order details. You enter your card details on Stripe's payment page, and Stripe processes the payment. We never see or store full card numbers.
Messages: what you send us through the contact or support forms, or by email.

2.2 Information from the Software

When you activate a license or start a trial, we record the computer's name and ID, its approximate location, and the activation and expiry times. We do not receive your project files or results.

2.3 Information collected when you use the Site

Log data: IP address, browser type, the pages you request, the date and time, and the referring page. Our security firewall also records requests so it can block attacks.
Cookies and similar technologies: see section 6.
Analytics: if you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics collects information about how you use the Site, such as the pages you view and your approximate location.

We do not ask for sensitive personal information such as government identification numbers, health data or biometric data.

3. How we use information

We use personal information to:

create and manage your account and sign you in
process orders, issue licenses, and manage subscriptions and renewals
activate licenses, enforce the number of licensed computers, and prevent license misuse
provide trials and prevent repeated trials on the same computer
deliver downloads, updates and user guides
answer support requests and other messages
send service emails, such as order confirmations, license details and renewal notices
send product news, only if you have agreed to receive it
understand how the Site is used, and improve the Site and the Software
protect the Site, detect fraud and abuse, and keep the records the law requires

We do not use personal information for purposes that are incompatible with these without your consent.

4. Legal bases (EEA, United Kingdom and Switzerland)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on these legal bases:

You can withdraw your consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that took place before.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only as follows.

5.1 Service providers

These companies process personal information on our behalf, under their own privacy terms and only to provide their services to us:

Stripe: payments and subscription billing
Hostinger: website hosting
Google: Sign in with Google, reCAPTCHA spam protection on our forms, and Google Analytics
Our email delivery provider: sending the Site's emails
Wordfence: website security

5.2 Legal requirements

We may disclose information if the law, a court order or a government authority requires it, or to protect the rights, property or safety of EEPSS, our users or the public.

5.3 Business transfers

If EEPSS is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will tell you by email or by a notice on the Site before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

5.4 With your consent

We may share information for other purposes when you ask us to or agree to it.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

The Site uses:

Necessary cookies: for sign-in, the cart and checkout, security, and remembering your cookie choices. The Site does not work properly without them.
Local storage for your language: your browser remembers whether you chose English or Chinese.
Order attribution: WooCommerce records how you arrived at the Site, for example from a search engine, so we can see how customers find us.
Analytics cookies: Google Analytics, used only if you accept them.
Google sign-in: the Sign in with Google button is provided by Google, which may set its own cookies.

When you first visit, a cookie banner lets you accept or reject cookies that are not necessary. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the Site may not work without necessary cookies.

7. How long we keep information

Account data: while your account is open. If you ask us to close your account, we delete it within 90 days, except for records we must keep.
Orders, invoices and license records: 7 years, as required by US tax and accounting rules.
License activations and trial records: while the license or trial record is in use, and up to 3 years after it ends, to prevent repeated trials.
Log data: up to 12 months.
Support messages: 2 years.

8. Security

We protect personal information with technical and organizational measures, including:

encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS)
secure password hashing
a website firewall and login protection
access limited to the people who need it

No method of transmission over the internet or of electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a data breach affects your rights, we will notify you as the law requires.

9. Your rights and choices

9.1 Everyone

See and update your account information in My Account.
See the computers your license is activated on, and deactivate them, in My Account.
Ask us to delete your account by emailing info@eepss.net.
Stop product news emails by using the unsubscribe link in any of them.
Choose not to give certain information, although some features may then be unavailable.

9.2 California residents

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, you have the right to:

know what personal information we collect, use and disclose
delete your personal information, with some exceptions
correct inaccurate personal information
opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share it)
limit the use of sensitive personal information (we do not collect it)
not be discriminated against for using these rights

To make a request, email info@eepss.net. We will confirm your identity before acting on it, and we will respond within 45 days. You may use an authorized agent to make a request for you.

9.3 EEA, United Kingdom and Switzerland

You have the right to:

access a copy of your personal data
correct inaccurate or incomplete data
have your data erased
restrict how we process your data
receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
object to processing based on legitimate interests
withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent

To use these rights, email info@eepss.net with "GDPR Request" in the subject line. We will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

9.4 Mainland China

Under the Personal Information Protection Law of the People's Republic of China, you have the right to know about and decide on the processing of your personal information, to access and copy it, to correct and delete it, to withdraw your consent, and to ask us to explain our processing rules. To use these rights, email info@eepss.net.

10. International data transfers

EEPSS is based in California, USA. Our servers and service providers may be in the United States or other countries, so your information may be transferred to and processed outside the country where you live. Where the law requires it, we use appropriate safeguards for these transfers, such as the Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission. By using the Site and the Software from mainland China, you agree that your personal information will be transferred to the United States for the purposes in this Policy.

11. Children's privacy

The Site and the Software are for professional use and are not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Links to other websites

The Site may link to websites run by others. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their privacy policies before giving them personal information.

13. Changes and language

We may update this Policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make a material change, we will post a notice on the Site and, if you have an account, email you.

This Policy is written in English. A Chinese translation is provided for convenience. If the two versions differ, the English version governs.
