Product Features

Build the model

  • Build complete digital models of AC and DC power systems.
  • The Network symbol represents a subnetwork, for large hierarchical systems.
  • Show or hide each component's name, annotation and data block, and the protective device symbols.
  • Draw components with ANSI or IEC symbols, and rotate and size each one.
  • Group, zoom, pan and rotate.
  • Libraries of cables, overhead lines, transformers, relays, fuses, LV breakers and trip units, reclosers, overload relays, batteries, PV modules and reliability data.
  • English and Chinese user interface.

Core

  • Power Flow: snapshot load flow.
  • Short Circuit: AC faults (3-phase, line-to-ground, line-to-line, line-to-line-to-ground) by the classical, ANSI/IEEE and IEC 60909 methods; DC pole-to-pole and pole-to-ground faults with IEC 61660-1 time curves and capacitor discharge.
  • Motor Starting: voltage drop when motors start.
  • Equipment Sizing: cables and transformers.

Standard

  • Protection & Coordination: time-current curves from the device libraries, with coordination checks between device pairs (IEEE 242 coordination time intervals).
  • Arc Flash: system-wide incident energy, arc flash boundaries and PPE categories. AC to IEEE 1584-2018 or the Lee method (NFPA 70E); DC by the maximum power or Stokes-Oppenlander method (NFPA 70E).
  • Harmonic Analysis: frequency scan, THD, and limit checks against IEEE 519-2014 and GB/T 14549 limits from the library.
  • Cable Ampacity: IEC 60287 for duct banks, directly buried cables and conduits, and cables in air; Neher-McGrath for cables and conduits in air.
  • Battery Study: sizing and discharge, with duty cycles from the loads.
  • Sag & Tension: ruling span, ice and wind loading, by NESC-style loads or GB 50545-2010 wind.
  • Power Flow time series: load shapes and solar irradiance over time.
  • Motor Starting dynamics: induction and synchronous motors, with direct-on-line, wye-delta, autotransformer, soft and VFD starting.

Advanced

  • Transient Stability: generators with exciters, governors and stabilizers (such as SEXS, ST1C, GGOV1 and IEEEG1), induction and synchronous motors, induction generators, and motor undervoltage relays.
  • EMT Simulation: switching transients such as capacitor switching, transformer inrush with saturation curves, and fault transients.
  • Control Block Simulation: time-domain simulation of control block diagrams.
  • Continuation Power Flow: the path to voltage collapse.
  • Optimal Power Flow: minimum generation cost, losses, control actions, load shedding or VAR investment, within network limits.
  • Contingency Analysis: N-1 outages of branches and generators, and your own multiple-outage cases, each solved by a full AC power flow.
  • Distribution Reliability: minimal cut sets with IEEE 493 (Gold Book) failure data.
  • Composite Reliability: generation and transmission together, by state enumeration or Monte Carlo, with EENS and interruption cost (ECOST).
  • Generation Adequacy: capacity outage probability tables or Monte Carlo, with LOLE, LOLP and EENS.
